education

​The mission of the Center for Biomedical Education (CBE) encompasses education in the basic medical and clinical sciences and educational research related to the training of medical doctors. CBE undertakes and fosters conferences, meetings, workshops, and publications by and for medical educators. Activities further the purposes of ICSM by promoting effective training of medical doctors and thereby conferring a benefit to society.

CME (Continuing Medical Education) courses are conducted online and face-to-face in association with Carilion Clinic (Roanoke, Virginia) with emphases on applications of Evolutionary Medicine and Clinical Anatomy.

Advanced Gross Anatomy for Medical and Allied Health Sciences is a full-body online systems-based course offered in association with LBAA. It features active learning activities, synchronous streaming prosection of natural-color Thiel-prepared cadavers from tableside, digital dissection of the Virtual Human, and video prosections available asynchronously. It is designed for advanced review by medical students who desire to reinforce or remediate their understanding of human structure. Courses can be tailored for online delivery as a medical or allied health school basic science by institutional arrangement with ICSM.

I​IIHER (International Institute for Human Evolutionary Research)  is a nonprofit research organization with origins dating back to 1991 whose purpose it is to investigate human evolutionary biology using the widest possible, "anthropogenic," purview. IIHER serves as the institutional base for paleoanthropological research expeditions, primarily to Africa. Active now is the East Libya Neogene Research Project to the Miocene sites of Sahabi, Jabal Zaltan, and along the Eosahabi Valley, Libya.
