Center for Forensic Science and Human Rights
Activity is forensic scientific investigation
of primarily skeletonized human remains worldwide, particularly those found in circumstances indicating abuses of human rights,
such as mass graves, “ethnic cleansing”, torture, or genocide. A secondary activity is forensic assistance lent
to medical examiners’ offices and regional law enforcement agencies primarily in Oregon, California, and Washington in solving missing person and homicide cases. This activity is carried out by
forensic scientists (forensic anthropologists, forensic pathologists, and DNA specialists) associated with CFSHR. It furthers
the purposes of ICSM by applying forensic science to the benefit of society as a whole, providing closure to families affected
by genocide, and uncovering evidence useful in prosecuting human rights violations. Funded by grants.
